Social Media Manager (Spanish and English)
Under Tuesday’s Reel, a mom asks if it works on her phone and a dad asks why the octopus wears no socks. You answer both by lunch.
Tatako is hiring its first Social Media Manager to make our channels the place parents come back to for the octopus, a laugh and a word to try at home. The series, the voice of every reply and the calendar behind them are yours to build.
About Tatako
Tatako makes short spoken English lessons for little ones. A lesson takes about five minutes, there is nothing to read, and a small round octopus keeps everyone company. He has eight arms, no socks, and usually loses count at seven.
Spanish stays the language of home, and Tatako adds a little English on top. An optional Spanish guide voice explains what to do and switches off anytime. Every lesson has three small steps: Hear it, say it. Touch it. Name it. In the last step the picture comes back without the word, and the child names it first.
The course has 369 first words and phrases, from “hello” and “mommy” to colors, animals and what the teacher says at preschool. Tatako works in the browser on any phone or tablet, and we start with Spanish-speaking families across the United States.
The role
- Remote and full-time, open to candidates who live in Florida, Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee or Arizona
- Native or near-native Spanish and fluent English
- You report directly to the founders
By day 90, every channel posts on a steady schedule, followers know the octopus’s running jokes, and parents get replies in the language they wrote in.
What you will do
- Run Tatako’s channels on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts and Facebook, with every video recut for its platform: its own opening, captions and sound.
- Make the octopus a recurring character with running jokes that pay off week after week: the count that stops at seven, the missing socks, the ticklish arms.
- Build series for parents: a word of the week from the 369, a lesson’s three small steps in one clip, a grown-up marking each word after a lesson, and carousels from the parent blog.
- Follow YouTube’s made-for-kids rules: set the audience on every upload, keep clips for kids and tips for grown-ups in separate videos, and know what the setting turns off, from comments to notifications.
- Answer every comment and DM in the language it arrives in, with saved replies for what parents ask often: lessons open in any phone’s browser, and the apps are coming soon.
- Keep children safe on camera: a parent’s signed release for every child in a video, no names, schools or streets in frame or captions, and comments naming a child hidden at once.
- Set a weekly rhythm with creator partnerships and PR: one planning call, one shared calendar, creator posts reshared with permission, and press moments posted the same day.
What you bring
- 4+ years running social channels for a consumer app, family brand or media company that speaks to Latino and bilingual families in the US.
- Short video craft: you shoot on a phone, edit in CapCut or Premiere Pro, and know each app’s safe zones and the sounds cleared for brand accounts.
- A writer’s voice in both languages, and the judgment to switch between them in one caption when that is how the audience talks.
- Platform rules you know by heart: YouTube’s audience settings, branded content labels, FTC disclosures and the basics of COPPA.
- A weekly read of the numbers: watch time, rewatches, saves, shares and bio-link visits to tatako.com, each turned into the next idea.
- Steady hands in a busy comment section: you calm a heated thread, spot spam early and know when a reply needs a founder.
Bonus points
- You have grown a channel built around a character, a puppet or a mascot.
- You animate simple motion yourself in After Effects or Rive.
Why you will love it
- Running jokes that come with the character, and parents who answer back in two languages.
- Your voice becomes Tatako’s voice: the series, the look and the tone of every reply start with you.
- Plenty to post about: 369 words and phrases, 72 lessons and an octopus who never finishes counting.
How to apply
