In a long row of tiny pictures, one small finger stops on yours. Then your opener plays, and the whole kitchen knows what is on.

Tatako is hiring its first Motion Designer to give every video its frame: openers, titles, covers, end screens and vertical layouts. The Video Editor cuts the picture, the YouTube Channel Manager tests what works on the shelf, and you design and animate everything around the story, in the same handmade spirit as the series.

About Tatako

Tatako is a first-words app for families raising a child with two languages. A lesson takes about five minutes, there is nothing to read, and a small round octopus keeps everyone company. He has eight arms, no socks, and usually loses count at seven.

The language of home stays the language of home. Tatako adds a second one on top, at a toddler’s pace, from the very first words. A guide voice can explain what to do, and you can switch it off whenever you like. Every lesson has three small steps: Hear it, say it. Touch it. Name it. In the last step the picture comes back without the word, and the child names it first.

We started with English: first words and phrases, from “hello” and “mommy” to colors, animals and what the teacher says at preschool. More languages are on the way. Tatako works in the browser on any phone or tablet.

The role

  • Remote and full-time, open to candidates anywhere in the world
  • Fluent English
  • You report directly to the founders

By day 90, an opener plays on every episode, the channels share one kit of titles and end screens, and a new video in any format gets its graphics without a late-night scramble.

What you will do

  • Design and animate openers, end screens and short logo moments, timed to the sound mark frame by frame.
  • Draw a cover for every song and episode, a fresh idea each time, never the same layout with a new title on top.
  • Set the word on screen: large, friendly type that reads on a small phone and feels like part of the world.
  • Rebuild graphics for vertical shorts, with safe zones for each platform and nothing important under the buttons.
  • Build the kit the studio shares: titles, captions and end screens that stay consistent across channels.
  • Prepare every design for other languages, including right-to-left scripts and long words that refuse to fit.
  • Keep motion calm: slow moves, no flashes and nothing spinning for attention.

What you bring

  • 4+ years in motion design for animation, broadcast or family brands, with a reel.
  • Expert After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop, with Blender or Cinema 4D when a job needs depth.
  • Type that works at thumbnail size, in Latin and non-Latin scripts.
  • Original work: every element is yours or made in the studio, and you can say where each one came from.
  • A handmade touch: you can make a digital move feel like paper on a table.
  • Speed with order: many languages and formats, named so nobody has to ask.

Bonus points

  • You have designed the titles of an animated series.
  • You have set type in Arabic, Korean or Japanese.

Why you will love it

  • A few seconds that families will see more often than any other part of the series.
  • Felt, clay and paper to work with, instead of another glossy gradient.
  • A logo with eight arms, which means eight ways to make an entrance.
